Then you realize your child is listening.

Jade is yelling "I love you" in this picture.  She's not real fond of saying "cheese".
Yesterday I took the two girls grocery shopping with me to Logan.  Doing this is like working an 8 hour day. Getting ready to go, then doing the shopping and driving home.  I have been doing a little coupon shopping and shopping the good sales at two stores there.  So, it takes a lot of concentration and I really try to go a alone but haven't been able to for a few weeks now. Of course when I go alone all this takes less than half the time.

Anyway, Jade decided to throw a couple tantrums at each store.  When we got to the car after the last store, I told her I was sad that she was throwing so many tantrums today.  She acted like she could care less and I wondered if I was ever getting through to her.  Well, this morning she got all done with her little chores she has to do every day and she turned to me with a hopeful look on her face and said, "Mom, I know that you are happy with me."  It caught me off guard and I had a twinge of guilt for telling her she made me sad yesterday, but I knew she actually had heard me.  So, of course I kissed her and told her that she made me very happy. I guess it's kinda nice when those little moments happen and you realize they are listening to you.

Yesterday at dinner, I was telling Weldon that something was a pain in the butt, and Jade said, "yes, a paint in the butt" then she said something about wanting to paint the butt. I told her that's probably not a very good thing for mommy to say and took another mental note to watch what I say.  I had to laugh. I am catching on a little at a time.
