(We didn't take these top 2 pictures, they just show the real beauty of it)After deciding we couldn't afford to go the the Grand Canyon, things suddenly worked out to where we could go 2 days before everyone was leaving. So, we decided to head down there with Glen and Kristina, Carol and Mark and my mom. We really had a great time!
The first day, we drove as far as Panguitch, UT (25 miles north of Bryce Canyon) and stayed at the KOA where we really made the ornery owners mad! They admitted to treating us like crap because they thought we were red necks just before we left the next day. Glen is not afraid to speak his mind. Then as we were filling up at the gas station he yells out "This town can't handle Red Necks like us!!" It was very hilarious!

Then next day we drove the rest of the way through very beautiful scenery and stopped at the amazing Lake Powel for lunch. This picture doesn't do it justice.

Then, we finally arrived at the Grand Canyon. It was just as I had seen it in pictures before. Very Huge! and very scary looking. It made my stomach churn every time we got near the edge. Again, much more beautiful in real life than in the pictures.

When we got back in the car after the first stop, we realized that Jade was cutting her first two teeth!! DUN, DUN, DUN! She was very cranky at times, up for a few hours crying at the KOA the night before, and now we realized why. Why did she have to start this now? OOOHHH!

The next day we walked a couple miles around the rim of the canyon. It was so warm and the canyon almost looked like someone had just pulled down a big backdrop. See that drop off behind Weldon? Yeah, no protective fence! One step away from death. They only had signs with a picture of a person falling off a cliff to their death saying to "be careful"!

Notice the lady in the hot pink shirt in the background

Carol and Mark's baby Baxter
"oh, he's thirsty, let me give him a drink."
Then, the day after that, we went and watched the IMAX National Geographic movie about the Grand Canyon. It was way over priced, but very awesome! It only made me realize though that a person needs a lot of money so they could go and enjoy a river rafting trip or a helicopter ride. It looks very amazing down by the river.
Since Carol and Mark have no children, they went for a 6 mile hike that morning. They went on the same trail as the donkey tour goes and they saw a woman actually fall off her donkey and fall a little ways down the cliff, they said she was screaming bloody murder! The medics came and got her. If I ever go back I will skip the donkey ride! AAAHHHH!

Weldon chopped a whole truckload of wood for 2 days. I don't know why, he said he just wanted to. I told him he looked HOT like Paul Bunyan, so I think that fueled his fire. Then he told everyone he had a flannel shirt, and jeans on the back of our closet that he uses for his lingerie. Later on, we were in the car alone and he said, "So, you liked that huh?" I just said, "Oh yeah."

The morning we were getting ready to leave, 2 deer walked right by me as I was arranging the car. They were obviously used to the people, but it was pretty cool anyways.

We then just decided to book it home and we made it in 12 hours, while listening the the book "Twilight" Very good! When we got back into Utah, everything was so green! Spring was the perfect time to go, and I'm so glad we went!

Sounds like you guys had a lot of fun. One of my life goals list is to do the Grand Canyon on horseback. I'll have to make sure not to fall off!!
